I am quite satisfied with the EUCMOS-related productivity of the group this autumn: 4 papers accepted already and a fifth one is still under consideration. In 2013 we should step forward and continue scoring papers – not just conference proceedings, but regularly submitted research reports as well.
This is just a short note to spread the good news: the fourth of our EUCMOS 2012 proceedings papers is available online since yesterday at http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.molstruc.2012.11.041. It was written my Mária Szabó and it is a nice report on WO3 nanowires.

On 26th November, 2012 I participated at the event "The President's Evening" organized by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for "Lendület" group leaders. We were honored by the presence of the President of the Academy, Prof. József Pálinkás who shared with us his thoughts about the "Lendület" program and was also open to listen to our thoughts and opinions. The real importance of this is that Prof. Pálinkás is THE father of the "Lendület" program, so it was quite interesting for me to hear him talk about it informally for a while.
The third proceedings paper written by the young colleagues was accepted for publication in the Journal of Molecular Structure today. It is written by Péter Pusztai et al. on the Structural stability test of hexagonal CePO4 nanowires synthesized at ambient temperature. Péter has summarized lots of measurements in this work and succeeded in finding a good spectroscopic approach. All in all, a quite good paper! The DOI is not yet available. I'll publish it in the Publications section of this website as soon as it it assigned to us.
I made a mind map (available only in Hungarian at the moment) to assist students working in our research group in writing their BSc or MSc diploma theses, project works etc. The presented approach should be closely followed by everyone unless they have a VERY good reason to diverge from it.
The mind map is available for download from the "Links" section of this website and also from my facebook page as a photo album. This week gave us a great reason to rejoice: two students working in our group performed excellently at the local Student Research Conference (TDK in Hungarian) on Thursday. Anna Király (supervised directly by Henrik Haspel) was awarded 3rd place which is highly respectable for such a young BSc student. Viktor Havasi (supervised directly by Zoltán Győri) went straight for the gold and achieved 1st place in his section. Both of them were allowed by the referees to proceed to the national Student Research Conference which will take place in Spring 2013.
Congratulations to the students and the supervisor guys, let's keep up the good work! As usual, I got more adsorbed in the daily administrative routine than I wanted to, and therefore, the proceedings papers are not submitted yet :(
Nevertheless, there are good news related to our research group that I am happy to report here:
The past week was light – not that I mind after the busy SIWAN days :-)
Hallowmass is a holiday in Hungary and the subsequent Friday was also declared holiday, therefore, we worked only three days this week. This was filled with lots of discussions and emails, some teaching and some personal errands for me. Highlights of the week from the scientific point of view:
