Lendület days at the HAS

12/24/2013

The progress of Lendület groups established in 2012 or earlier was reviewed at the annual Lendület Days of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on 16th and 18th December, 2013. I presented our group on 18th (Wednesday) afternoon. IMHO the talk was received well, at least no questions were asked... A link to the whole event is available here, the progress reports about our section will be available here (not published by the HAS yet) and the abstract of my talk can be found in this summary PDF (page 11).

Since today happens to be the 24th of December, let me take this opportunity to wish a Merry Christmas to all the gentle readers of this blog!

Titania nanofiber gypsum composite paper

12/11/2013

Good news from Oulu, Finland: our paper "Titania Nanofibers in Gypsum Composites: An Antibacterial and Cytotoxicology Study" was accepted for publication today in the Journal of Materials Chemistry B. This paper and written by Dr. Melinda Mohl, our contribution was related to the titania nano fibers. Melinda has done a great job in coordinating this multi-author effort! The relevance of this paper for the Lendület project is related to the synthesis of the 1D titania-gypsum composite material.

Group photos

We have had our photos taken earlier this week on 4th December, 2013. The first one shows all members (staff and students) of the Kónya-Kukovecz research group:

The second photo zooms onto the members of the Lendület group. Actually, it is somewhat difficult to classify people as being "in" or "not in" the Lendület group because we all work so closely together. Anyway, we at least tried and the resulting photo is available both here and in the "Home" section of this website.

Simon Szalai and Katalin Bencsik are missing from both photos. All photos were made by Zoltán Győri, thank you!
