Good news: our paper "Synthesis of ZnS nanocrystals within Maleic Anhydride-Octene-1-Vinylbutyl ether terpolymer template and its characterizations" was accepted for publication in the International Journal of Advanced Chemical Technology. This is a special paper because it is the first written public result of the FP7 "NAPEP" project which was recently concluded. NAPEP allowed us to get acquinted and make friends with some excellent scientist working at the Baku State University, Baku, Azerbaijan. This paper was expertly managed by Elvin. Y. Malikov, a bright PhD student with nice career prospect in science. More NAPEP papers and a follow-up H2020 project are underway.

Major good news to start 2014 with: our paper "Water-induced changes in the charge-transport dynamics of titanate nanowires" was accepted for publication in Langmuir today! Written by Henrik Haspel and co-authored by Valéria Bugris and myself, this is a rather thorough analysis of the charge transport dynamics of titanate nanowires. It is a nice work on chemical physics and fits perfectly into the fluid-solid interaction research program of our Lendület group.
Good news from Oulu, Finland: our paper "Titania Nanofibers in Gypsum Composites: An Antibacterial and Cytotoxicology Study" was accepted for publication today in the Journal of Materials Chemistry B. This paper and written by Dr. Melinda Mohl, our contribution was related to the titania nano fibers. Melinda has done a great job in coordinating this multi-author effort! The relevance of this paper for the Lendület project is related to the synthesis of the 1D titania-gypsum composite material.
Good news today: our Taiwanese friend, Prof. Ming-Chung Wu informed us that the paper "Photocatalytic Activity of Nitrogen doped TiO2-based Nanowires: A Photo-Assisted Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy Study" was finally accepted for publication in the Journal of Nanoparticle Research. Ming-Chung has put a lot of effort into this paper and it is nice to see it finally accepted. The paper is a good, thorough work which emerged from the joint effort of several researchers. The impact factor of JNR is not particularly high, nevertheless, the merits of the paper make it easy to be proud to be its co-author.
Good news yesterday: our paper "Human epithelial tissue culture study on restorative materials" was accepted for publication in the Journal of Dentistry. Although this is only remotely related to the core activities of our Lendület group, it is a very welcome addition to the publication portfolio because it opened up a new field of collaboration. There are several application possibilities for nanocomposites in dentistry, therefore, I consider this paper to be the first step towards an important real-world application direction for our materials. The lead author of this paper is Dr. András Forster. Thank you to all contributors!
Celebration time! :) Our paper "Exploiting the ion exchange ability of titanate nanotubes in a model water softening process" was accepted for publication yesterday in Chemical Physics Letters. Ion exchange is a very important functionalization method for titanate nanotubes, therefore, this paper is doubly interesting: (i) it reports Ca2+ and Mg2+ ion exchange characteristics for titanate nanotubes in an continuous flow system which closely models industrial ones, and (ii) it offers some insight into the ion exchange kinetics of the material which may eventually result in better functionalization methods.
It is worth noting here that this paper is the result of a real collaboration between all co-authors. Indeed, every single author contributed something important. So far, so good - now let us get back to working for more nice papers! :-) Good news for early October: our paper titled "Functionalized Low Defect Graphene Nanoribbons and Polyurethane Composite Film for Improved Gas Barrier and Mechanical Performances" was accepted for publication in ACS Nano yesterday. This work was coordinated by the fine folks at Rice University, our contribution was the measurement and analysis of the gas permeability curves. It should be mentioned here that the measurements were made by Tímea Simon, our favorite lab assistant :) Such high impact, high visibility publications are very much needed for the success of the Lendület group, so I'm quite happy about this one.
September might have appeared a bit silent here on the blog, but October is surely gaining momentum fast! Our paper "Water Types and their Relaxation Behavior in Partially Rehydrated CaFe-Mixed Binary Oxide Obtained from CaFe-Layered Double Hydroxide in the 155 K – 298 K Temperature Range" was accepted for publication in Langmuir yesterday! This paper presents a nice practical application of dielectric spectroscopy: monitoring the behavior of water in a layered double hydroxide derivative material. The first author is Ms. Valéria Bugris, the expert corresponding authors is Dr. István Pálinkó. Congratulations to all who were involved in this nice work!
It looks like we can finally enjoy the fruits of our hard work this summer: our paper "Metal loading determines the stabilization pathway for Co2+ in titanate nanowires: ion exchange vs. cluster formation" was accepted for publication in Physical Chemistry Chemical Physical yesterday, The paper was managed by Prof. János Kiss and the first author is Dániel Madarász, one of our PhD students. We report on an interesting phenomenon, namely, that cobalt can stabilize by two different methods on titanate nanotubes depending on the metal loading. The current reference is Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., DOI:10.1039/C3CP51502H.
We have good news to report in the middle of the summer: our paper "Water sorption-induced dielectric changes in titanate nanowires" by Henrik Haspel et al. was accepted for publication in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C. This is a very nice, informative work that includes a detailed literature overview and reports a considerably amount of our own measurements as well.
